- I too am having a whole lot of trouble getting connected to my ppp. I
- am using win95 and their dialup network. What happens to me is when
- my terminal window pops up I get all sorts of ascii charactors
- scrolling across the screen, and when I go to enter my login name and
- pwd, extra "junk" gets added in and I end up with permission denied
- messages . Also when the modems hanshake the noises are strange, but
- only when I try to connect with my internet provider- local BBB's are
- just fine and the sounds are normal, and connections are good.
- I have emailed this to USR support, but no reply.
- What I have done in the mean time is added AT&f1 in the extra
- settings box in modem setup in windows95, this at least helps me to
- finally get connected tho it doesn't respond quite normal yet, and the
- handshake still sounds funny. But once I 'm finally connected I
- connect at 24000 which is about as much as one can expect from
- anolouge phone lines , (so I'm told). And the modem works great .I was
- using a USR14.4 v42bis and had no trouble at all connecting or
- anything.
- I would also like further info to see if I can't get this modem
- function to its reported abilities, other wise I will down grade back
- to the 14.4 that woked flawlessly.
-
- its just my USRV34+ 28.8 thats fouling upon connects.
